Sophie Cowan
Sophie has been a swimming teacher for more than 14 years and has taught hundreds of children and adults of all ages and abilities how to swim.
Her swim-teaching career began in earnest in 2009 when she qualified as a Level 2 instructor.
As well as teaching, Sophie is also a qualified water fitness instructor and has her national rescue award for swimming teachers and coaches; in addition, she is qualified for teaching those who are deaf and hard of hearing.
When she’s not teaching swimming, Sophie’s sporting hobbies include paddle boarding and snowboarding. She also loves to travel and her favourite place to swim is in the clear sea off Croatia, with its numerous bays and beaches to explore.
Sophie loves live music festivals and spending time cooking up a storm in the kitchen - with roast dinner and curry being her favourite dishes to cook.
When it comes to her top tips for learning how to swim, Sophie’s advice is simple: relax and have fun!
Sophie teaches children and adults on Thursday evenings at Notre Dame School in Cobham.
