Rachel Weaver
Rachel is a seasoned Level 2 swimming instructor boasting an impressive 17 years’ of invaluable teaching experience.
She has taught hundreds of learners of varying ages and abilities, from newborn babies in the pool for the first time to coaching children through the latter stages of the Swim England Learn to Swim Framework, preparing them for competitive swimming.
Embarking on her career within the leisure industry as a lifeguard, Rachel moved from management to the realm of teaching. Specialising predominantly in under 5s, where she laid the all important early years foundations, she cemented her reputation as a dedicated early years specialist.
With certifications including National Pool Lifeguard, PXB (Pool Extraction Board), and First Aid, Rachel's expertise extends beyond teaching. A certified water fitness aqua aerobics instructor, a sports and fitness coach, she also holds qualifications for supporting learners with hearing impairments.
The best advice Rachel has for anyone learning to swim is to trust the process; she firmly believes that with a nurturing teacher who wants the same end goal, anything is possible.
She’s a firm believer in the power of play and her mantra is that when it comes to young children, if you can make lessons fun and engaging, you’ll achieve the best results.
She believes that putting in maximum effort to build trust and friendship between teacher and child is the best route to clear progression - and seeing their happiness at achieving their goals is priceless.
Thanks to this successful approach, Rachel has seen some of her own pupils return to the pool as lifeguards and gets great pleasure knowing that she has instilled a love of swimming through her teaching.
When it comes to her own swimming pursuits, Rachel has been fortunate to enjoy swimming with dolphins in Orlando Florida, though she insists that the children she teaches are much more fun!
Rachel teaches babies and toddlers at our Claygate venue on Saturdays.
